Art began in the churches. Historically, paintings have revealed the story of creation, Noah’s Ark, the story of Christ and so on. Even in the Stone Age, people painted on the walls of their caves to connect to their creator.

Unfortunately by the twentieth century, art and music had diminished greatly in the church. It was no longer valued as it once had been. Music became limited in the church and only included instruments such as an organ or a piano. Therefore, artists and musicians had to move outside the four walls of the church in order to express their gifts. The results of this change opened the way to all different outside influences impacting the creative arts, and unfortunately, worldly trends began.

The good news is that all forms of contemporary music and art are being accepted back into the church. Painters, dancers and musicians can once again use their gifts for God and now with and even greater diversity of creativity. So the pendulum has swung back, and with it joyfully, new levels of creative revelations have been welcomed. Hence, prophetic art was birthed.

Even further, Prophetic Artists are not just singing and painting about events that have already occurred, but rather, they are communicating from the heart of the Father what He is saying to His sons and daughters now. It’s a way of speaking to the church and the non-churched with a message of God’s love to this generation. Enjoy the love!

Janet Hyun majored in Fine Arts at the Art Institute of Chicago after completing a Fashion Design Degree from FIDM. Janet also received a Bachelor’s Degree from the Art Center College of Design in Pasadena.

Janet has always dreamed of impacting the world with her artistic gifts, so God led her to Expression 58 with Shawn Bolz. Currently, her paintings are on calendars and are being used for Street and Prison Ministries. They are also being used in multimedia missions in the United States and in Korea as well as at Alyson's Hope and Healing class.

Janet loves to worship the Lord our God not only in her prayer and praises, but also through her art. During times of worship, Janet loves to paint images that the Holy Spirit has revealed to her heart so that she can express another facet of who God is to the world. As she fills the blank canvas with revelations of Jesus Christ, the images and colors rise up to shine into people’s hearts and minds as they engage their spirits to worship the Risen King. People have even reported to have been both physically and emotionally healed from her paintings.

When God brought me to my new church, Expression 58, I had never seen people dancing or painting during worship. I thought it was a little strange, and to be truly honest, the dancers annoyed me. I wondered what the heck they were doing up there in front of the church distracting everyone from worship. However, in my 27 years of walking with the Lord, I have learned to turn things over to Him and ask what His perspective is on things.

When I asked the Lord what He thought about the dancers, I immediately heard Him quote His word out of Isaiah 52:7, “How lovely on the mountains are the feet of him who brings good news…” God said that the dancers’ feet were bringing Him good news because they were actually releasing a freedom to His people. Needless to say, my irritation with the dancers immediately ceased and thank God it did because even I began getting the interpretations of what the dancers were accomplishing while they were dancing. In the past, I’ve gotten the interpretation of dreams and visions, but who knew there was the interpretation of feet!

As Joanna my Creative Arts Pastor has said, “Creative arts express and release freedom.” So because of what I had learned about the dancers, I decided to start asking the Lord what He was saying to His kids through the painters.

Almost every week, He graciously started giving me the interpretations of the paintings as well. After the service, I would go up to the painters and share what I had received. Through this process, God knit my heart together with Janet’s. The Lord brought about a bond between us that could be likened to Jonathan and David’s. I love Janet. She is a rare gem who radiates many facets of the Lord Himself, and through her art, God’s voice can be heard.

Alyson Andrasik received her BA in Psychology from UCLA (where she got saved) and her Master’s Degree in Marital and Family Therapy from Azusa Pacific University. She is a licensed Marital, Family, Individual and Teen Therapist who has been practicing since 1988.

Alyson has led Hope and Healing, an abuse recovery class, for the last 17 years and has ministered to thousands of people the glorious truth of their identity. It was no mistake when her parents named her Alyson, which means “truthful one.” Alyson has the joy of speaking the truth into people’s innermost beings through inner healing, deliverance, and the prophetic as the Holy Spirit leads her.

While reading the Word, and under the mentoring of Arthur Burk (at PlumblineMinistries.com), Alyson has recently had revelations from the Father’s perspective (Eph. 2:6) that has led her to bring about a deeper healing from the wounding on one’s spirit. God has taught her how to remove anything that blocks the full expression of the blue prints of God’s DNA in each person. She has been anointed to minister to the magnificence of people’s spirits where we carry the image of God and walk out our destiny (Genesis 1:28-29; Psalm 34:18; 2 Peter 1:3-4; & 1 Thess. 5:23-24)
